Is there a free way to specifically block the "Install Macromedia Flash" ads from appearin

I would like to know how to stop the terribly annoying "Install Macromedia Flash" Ad from appearing in IE web pages. Can't find freeware etc. that will stop the ad. I have Widows ME and can't turn off active X control without affecting normal web page viewing.

btw, installing flash player doesnt make any harm for ur PC.

You see this message because you do not have Flash Player on your computer, and you need it to see some content on a website. This message comes from your web browser, which alerts you whenever you try to go to a web site that has Flash content; it does not come from Macromedia.

Why would you not want Macromedia Flash - a lot of web pages use it so without it installed you're missing web page content.

If you did have it installed IE wouldn't keep prompting you to install it.

In case you're worried about adware, spyware etc you don't need to be. Flash is an industry standard bit of kit that's effectively an extension to IE.
Im not sure, but I admire you not wanting the damn thing.

As has been said, a lot of people 'like' it because sites 'force' you to use it. Unfortunately this is a common misconception. The best sites imho do not use flash.

You could always try the following method

"SpywareBlaster: Tools %26gt; Flash Killer %26gt; this option only disables the use of Flash."

You need to have spywareblaster installed to use it however.

Its not really that important to use active-x components either btw ;O)
