Picking which "one" to use is a false dilemma. You will wind up using whichever one is your favorite.

Your OS will let you change your default web browser (the one that responds to HTLM link clicks and URL launch requests) every 5 minutes, if you want to do so.

You have no obligation/requirement/penalty for using your default web browser wither. It is just a default.

The only thing which is browser-specific that really matters at all is their bookmarks. They use completely different schemes for storing bookmarks. I think Firefox will let you import IE bookmarks; not sure if IE has learned the reverse of that trick yet.

IE 7 will likely change the format for bookmarks from what earlier versions were using, since having a separate file for every single bookmark does not scale very well.

It would be nice if you could store your bookmarks in a browser-independent format in your computer or on the web. There are a few websites that do this:

1. Yahoo bookmarks (available in Yahoo Toolbar)

2. Yahoo My Web 2 (available in Yahoo Toolbar)

3. Google Notebook

Firefox supports more W3 standards than IE 6 and likely that lead will continue when IE 7 comes out. IE 7 will attempt to do things like add support for RSS (Firefox had it since 1.0), fix the CSS layout box model (Firefox always had it, even Mozilla had it), improve bookmarking, IE 7 introduces tabbed browsing (Firefox 1.0 had it and Mozilla has had it for five years or more), etc.

Turning the tables, Firefox on the other hand has the following that IE lacks:

- Javascript 1.6 (which introduces E4X [XML-syntax], etc.)

- XSLT (the real XSLT standard, not one based on a draft of the spec.)

- RDF (semantic web file format)

- SVG (scaleable vector graphics - great for drawing apps and visualizations/graphs)

- the new "canvas" element for XHTML/HTML (animations, paint programs, arcade games, etc.)

Firefox also supports of a few of its own "de facto" standards, which IE totally lacks:

- XUL (XML User interface Language)

- XBL (eXtensible Binding Language)

In addition to all that, Firefox is well along in getting the XForms standard implemented for it. This newer, simpler way of creating web pages that work nicer for users and still preserve the ability to look pretty - will change the way web applications are written today. Wild guess is Firefox will finish this in 2007. or early 2008.

In short, while IE 7 will be novel for users who have only ever used IE, it will likely be of only passing interest to people who have been using Firefox for the past year or so.

Actually, IE 7 does not have as a goal to "catch up" with Firefox, merely to partially close the distance. Since Firefox 2.0 will likely be out in final form before IE 7 is out in final form, that may be a losing battle.

Firefox runs on all major operating systems (Win, Mac, Linux), supports more operating MS-Windows system versions than IE 7 (maybe even latest IE 6), and has programmers from all over the world working on it. IE 7 simply has a team in India and maybe help in the US working on it.

IE has roots deep into the guts of your operating system. Firefox is simply an application. It is completely non-invasive, like a shirt - rather than a Harkonnen Heart Plug.

Firefox is definitely better! much faster on loading stuff and you can even add extensions to make it cooler! and the tabs are nice, it wouldnt clog your task bar! Happy Firefox Browsing! =^_^=
as soon as internet 7 comes out.. it will be a lot better than firefox/mozilla or whatever. I've always used IE and don't really like firefox.. so i say IE
Mozilla Firefox is better. IE lags like hell... on my computer anyway. Also, I think you're more at risk of adware/spyware when using IE.
of course firefox! ie is sad

Adding it up to the advantages above, Firefox is less prone to malware such as unwanted pop-ups and spyware.
IE is not good. Firefox has (A) less popups (2) is better all around (C) becuase IE sucks.

Go FIREFOX
